Will my piercing hurt?
That question will depend on you. Most of the time, you feel a quick, sharp poke, then a little throb afterwards. But it fully depends on you and how your mental state is at the time. If you ready to accept your piercing, you will be on accepting terms with yourself and your experience.
How much will my piercing cost?
Cost of piercing will depend on:
  • What piece of jewelry you decide to place in your piercing: Style, Size, and Material.
  • How you get the piercing done, which in most cases would be with a needle.
  • Other methods are available but generally increase the price.
How long will my piercing take to heal?
This question is highly individualized:
  • Which piercing you have received (refer to the aftercare page)
  • How well you take care of your piercing, or not.
  • Generally if you listen to your body and try to understand what it's doing or what it's going through you should have a better success rate (most of the time).
  • If your being rough with the piercing it will most likely take more time to heal. Piercings do not really appreciate abuse.(Until there healed, then play!)
Will my piercing leave a scar?
  • This will depend on well you healed the piercing, if your body healed wonderfully, then the scar should be very minimal after sometime.
  • If you have large amounts of scar tissue built up, yes you will most likely have a larger scar.
  • Stretched larger gauge piercing (Take this as a permanent structure foryour body) although they will shrink quite a bit after some time.
How is everything used on me sterilized or disinfected?
Needles:
  • 1st: Run through an ultrasonic, to remove any machining particles or oils.
  • 2nd: Packaged by myself into sterilization bags, individually, and sealed.
  • 3rd: Run through a full cycle of the autoclave, steam sterilized, then vent dried.
  • 4th: Needles are stored for no longer than a month, in the sterilization bags.
  • 5th: Used ONLY on you.
  • 6th: Discarded in a SHARPS container, to NEVER be used again.
  • My needle packing policy:
    • While packaging needles if myself or anyone working with me is ever stuck with a needle that needle is discarded, and will not package needles again till the wound is fully healed.
Tools:
  • After using a tool on a client, it is then placed into an ultra sonic cleaner and run for a Full cycle. Then placed into sterilization bags, placed into the autoclave for a full cycle, vent dried, stored into Storage bins, rotated, and stored no longer than one month, till process is repeated.
Disposable:
  • Are exactly that, dental bibs, tissue, swabs, rubber bands, toothpicks plastic cups. Are autoclaved when possible. (Some items can not be autoclaved) These items do not directly touch the skin, when they come from their manufactured package; they are handled as little as possible. (Swabs, rubber bands, toothpicks are autoclaved) all of these items are discarded after each use.
Jewelry:
  • All Jewelry that is used on fresh piercings is or has been run through one of our autoclaves Pre sterilized jewelry is run through the Midmark Autoclave. We also utilize the use of a StatIM autoclave for on the spot sterilazation.
Piercing Area:
  • Each morning before I begin my day everything exposed is wiped down with CaviWipes, or Sprayed down with Eco-Tru, set then wiped down, thoroughly. Floors, Walls, Storage areas: are fully sprayed and wipe down two to three times weekly.
Sterilization Area:
  • Wiped down after each use, with CaliWipes or Eco-Tru.
What type of jewelry should I place in my piercing?
Depends on the piercing you receive, and also what best suits your body.
What gauge would be best in my piercing?
The area you have pierced has lot to do with this minimum gauges are going to be specified on the area you get pierced, check with a reputable shop or piercer, and a second opinion would never hurt.
Minor Policies?
  • I will pierce at any age, But you must be able to talk or motion to me that you want to have the piercing done, or I will not do it.
  • I WILL NOT PIERCE NIPPLES OR GENITALIA ON A MINOR REGUARDLESS OF ANYTHING!!
  • If you are a minor you will have to listen to a much longer lecture before giving you a piercing.
  • Just so you FULLY understand everything you could possibly be in for.
  • I DO SUGGEST AGAINST certain areas, especially areas that you may "grow" in, for the simple reason you could outgrow your piercing, and the fact that I want you to make sure you can deal with this marking on your body for the rest of your life.
NOTE: To pierce a minor, I need:
  • BOTH BIOLOGICAL PARENTS - WITH PICTURE I.D.'S
  • BIRTH CERTIFICATE FOR THE MINOR
  • PICTURE I.D FROM MINOR (drivers license, passport, school I.D. (Cannot be hand written) newspaper clipping with name in print, school yearbook, or other verified by myself)
  • IF PARENTS ARE DIVORCED I NEED COURT CUSTODY PAPERS WITH WHO HAS FULL PHYSICAL CUSTODY, IF IT IS JOINT I NEED BOTH PARENTS.
  • If one parent is deceased I need death certificate if both parents are on the birth certificate.
  • If only one parent is on the birth certificate then just that parent is acceptable.
  • If different last names I need court documented proof, needs to be traced back.
  • ALL MINOR PIERCINGS ARE DONE AT MY DISSCRETION. I HAVE THE RIGHT TO DECLINE AT ANYTIME, FOR ANY REASON. IF YOU DO NOT PROVIDE ME WITH THE RIGHT DOCUMENTATION, YOU WILL BE TURNED AWAY!
What should the jewelry be made of that I put in my fresh piercing?
ALL JEWERLY'S LISTED BELOW ARE SUITABLE FOR PIERCINGS DONE IN THE U.S. UNLESS YOU KNOW YOU HAVE A REACTION TO THIS TYPE OF MATERIAL! (THEN YOU WOULD USE ANOTHER NON-REACTIVE TYPE OF JEWERLY).
  • Surgical Implant Stainless Steel
  • Niobium
  • Surgical Implant Titanium
  • 14K or 18K Solid Yellow or White Gold
  • Tygon
  • Teflon
My body is very sensitive to the earrings I wear; will this be the same for my new piercing?
  • Different types of jewelry are of course made out of different materials. Finding out what material your wearing in your body will help determine what you can or cannot wear.
  • First make sure the jewelry is made out of pure materials, and not just coated, this is very common with most regular stud jewelry, (except for like piercing studs). Once the plating has worn off, it creates a black appearance to the post, that is in your body, (This is one of the most common I have seen.) Your body will cause a reaction to the cheap material used underneath, proving it is not a pure material.
  • The best way to find out what would work best for your body is by either finding out what material your jewelry (watches, belts, rings) are made of, this is always a good place to start. Then if you have a reaction with that type, more than likely, stay away from that material.
  • If you have no idea what type of jewelry you should receive, generally you can just start with almost any pure form of jewelry, try it and if you see problems you can under-need-to cases, change the jewelry out.
What should I look for in a shop/artist?
  • First and foremost, make sure they are CLEAN. MAKE SURE THEY ARE INFORMED ON THE TOPIC and that they know what they are talking about. You must read-up on piercings.
  • MOST IMPORTANTLY, make sure you feel willing to trust this person with the one and only body you have been given.
  • Check out all the options - Yeah, the price is right, but is their work?
  • Talk to people and look at their piercing(s).
  • ABOVE ALL, TAKE YOUR TIME...
